A new range of flat cardboard trays for the oven and microwave

Up to 80% less plastic than traditional trays, according to manufacturer Graphic Packaging.

Graphic Packaging has announced the launch of a new line of PaperSeal Cook trays that are oven and microwave safe. The company claims that this new product reduces plastic by up to 80% compared to traditional trays.

Ricardo de Genova, Graphic Packaging's senior vice president of global innovation and new business development, explains:

"Many of our customers are looking to minimize the amount of plastic packaging they use in a category traditionally dominated by crystallized polyethylene terephthalate trays. We've transferred our PaperSeal technology to a convenient oven- and microwave-safe fiber-based solution that has all the benefits of the PaperSeal tray plus a liner that can withstand the high temperatures required during baking.»

The flat cardboard part of the tray is 100% recyclable

The PaperSeal baking tray includes a sealing flange that helps prevent leakage throughout the supply chain. After use, the consumer can easily separate the liner film from the paperboard, making the paperboard portion of the tray 100% recyclable through normal collection channels, Graphic Packaging points out.

Graphic Packaging International specializes in sustainable paperboard-based packaging solutions for food, beverage, foodservice and other consumer product companies.
