Vosges paper Arches (88) goes under the Italian flag

The Finn sold this activity for 43.6 million euros.

Like canson paper Arches fine art paper made in the Vosges is part of the Fabbrica Italiana Lapis ed Affini (Fila) group. The Finnish paper group Ahlstrom-Munksjö has just completed the sale of this business announced last October. The amount of this transaction is 43.6 million euros.

This paper made in Arches is a fine art paper that has been in existence since 1492. Its manufacture is recognized as a Living Heritage Enterprise since 2017 .

This paper is produced by two paper machines at the Arches mill in France, where Ahlstrom-Munksjö Arches also operates five machines that produce decorative papers and abrasive substrates (these two other activities are not concerned by the sale).

The fine arts business generates a turnover of 13 million euros and EBITDA of 4 million euros.

"The fine art paper sector is modest and has limited synergies within Ahlstrom-Munksjö's portfolio of activities, explains the former owner. F.I.L.A. is a strategic and industrial owner, a leading global player in its field, for which the Arches paper product range is complementary and offers new opportunities for growth" .
