The group is currently working with authorities to determine the causes of the fire.

A fire broke out in the mid-afternoon of Tuesday 23 June at the DS Smith Kaysersberg paper mill in the Upper Rhine. Approximately 12 000 m 3 bales of cardboard and paper have gone up in smoke, according to the regional daily newspaper Alsace, in this corrugated board and paper mill of the British paper and packaging group.

DS Smith confirmed the incident at his Alsatian paper mill where emergency services were called in to contain and extinguish a fire. "The fire remained confined to the site and was brought under control." says Pierre Jegu, General Manager of DS Smith's Paper France Division.
He goes on to say: "We're working with all relevant authorities to determine the cause of the fire, the factory's production was not impacted."

And the papermaker would like to thank all the rescue services for their intervention "fast and efficient".

The Kaysersberg paper mill is a recycled flat cardboard and paper for corrugated board (PPO) plant with a production capacity of 180,000 tonnes of cardboard.
