Arctic Paper products, first paper products to be Cradle to Cradle certified

The full range of papers manufactured at Arctic Paper Munkedals has been awarded the Bronze level.

Arctic Paper Munkedals is the first paper mill in the world to receive Cradle to Cradle Certified. The Arctic Paper Group's mill in Sweden has been awarded Bronze level (out of five levels: basic, bronze, silver, gold, platinum) for its entire range of papers (Munken Design, Munken Book, Amber Graphic and Munken Kraft).

This international certification launched in 2002, Cradle to Cradle (Cradle to Cradle in French or C2C), measures the circular economy of products. It is based on five environmental and social performance criteria: health safety of the materials used, reuse of materials, energy consumption, water management and social responsibility. The lowest level obtained in one of these criteria determines the overall level of certification.

In terms of the safety of the materials used, the papers manufactured in the mill were awarded the silver level. This criterion determines that the products are manufactured with the safest possible chemicals for humans and the environment.

"Applying the Cradle to Cradle design principle means not only minimizing the negative influences of a product's manufacture, but also leaving a positive imprint. This creates products and processes that are safe for people, healthy for the environment and efficient for business, indicates the paper group.

Arctic Paper will continue its certification work at the remaining production sites and indicates that it will strive to further improve these results. The group has three paper mills, two in Sweden and one in Poland.
