Italian paper group Fedrigoni expands its portfolio of graphic film products and assets with the acquisition of a majority stake in German group Poli-Tape. Poli-Tape, founded in 1993, employs 370 people and operates two plants in Germany, two in Italy and a distribution center in the United States. The Möhren family, majority shareholder prior to this operation, will retain a significant stake.
Poli-Tape's textile graphics division includes a range of thermal transfer vinyl films for decorating fabrics and other substrates.
For the Italian specialist in self-adhesive materials, papers for luxury packaging and RFID/NFC and connected solutions, this sector is particularly interesting for responding to the trend towards personalized garments and accessories, whether in haute couture, apparel or sports.
The German group's portfolio also includes solutions for the signage segment and large-format digital printing with PVC films.
In addition, Poli-Tape is one of the leading players in the taping applications market, with adhesive tapes used in the professional sector or in everyday life by end-users. It also offers self-adhesive specialty products such as magnetic and special-effect self-adhesive tapes.
"The acquisition of Poli-Tape enables us to expand and diversify our portfolio of self-adhesive materials for visual communication", comments Marco Nespolo, CEO of Fedrigoni, which employs 5,500 people." Thanks to this transaction, we are strengthening our presence in attractive segments such as textiles and special graphics, and increasing our production capacity. We are also acquiring distinctive know-how in polyurethane films used, for example, in the automotive coatings and paint protection segments, which are highly strategic and synergistic with our recent acquisition of Unifol in Turkey (specialized in PVC films for vehicles, whose takeover was announced in July 2022, editor's note). "
This acquisition brings to four the number of mergers and acquisitions completed by Fedrigoni since the beginning of the year.
