Nestlé Dessert opts for paper stickers, eliminating 34 tonnes of plastic

Nestlé Dessert abandons plastic overwrapping in favor of paper. Batches of Nestlé Dessert tablets will no longer be held together by plastic film.

A simple gesture, a massive impact: Nestlé replaces plastic film with two paper stickers on Nestlé Dessert chocolate bars. The result of several years' testing, the elimination of over-wrapping will save 34 tonnes of plastic a year, according to Nestlé figures. Individual packaging with the kraft paper envelope used since 1971 remains unchanged.

The project mobilized Nestlé's technical and marketing departments over several years. Anne-Sophie Le Denmat, Nestlé Dessert Brand Manager, emphasizes the collective dimension of this implementation. She sees this change as a "significant progress" for the brand's packaging.

According to Nestlé, retailers are in agreement with this development. "We see it as a new step towards deplastification" says Stéphane Pierrefeu, CSR Suppliers Director at Carrefour, quoted by Nestlé.

"By eliminating plastic film, we are helping to make the brand more responsible while meeting consumer expectations." says Florence Audoyer, General Manager of Nestlé France's chocolate division
