Tetra Pak reduces its GHG emissions by 54%
Liquid packaging giant Tetra Pak has announced a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its entire value chain (Scopes 1, 2 and 3) since 2019. In its own industrial operations, the reduction reaches 54%, with the use of 94% renewable energy.
The 24,000-employee Swiss group aims to achieve carbon neutrality in its operations by 2030, and across its entire value chain by 2050.
Tetra Pak's decarbonization strategy is based on optimizing plants and production lines and developing low-carbon footprint packaging (such as recycled polymer closures). By way of example, the new UHT milk lines issued in 2024 generated 13% fewer emissions than in 2023 and 42% fewer than in 2019.
