Following printing and finishing, MGI Digital Technology is expanding digital processes into electronics manufacturing. Through its subsidiary Altix, the French manufacturer is now applying this technology to the application of protective varnish on printed circuit boards. The very first AltiJet was ordered by Cirly, a French manufacturer of printed circuit boards (PCBs), prototypes, and small production runs based in Brignais in the Rhône region.
This order marks a new phase for the Protective PCB Coating technology platform: its implementation in a production facility and its testing under the demands of daily production.
The AltiJet uses a digital process to replace the application of varnish intended to protect printed circuit boards. This new technology reduces setup times and changeover times, and allows for more precise control of material consumption.
This platform combines inkjet deposition with an integrated scanner that performs in-line inspection of printed circuit boards during the manufacturing process. The process also enables digital traceability of production.
Choosing Cirly provides MGI and its subsidiary Altix with a diverse industrial testing ground. In fact, the manufacturer works with more than 400 customers each year, particularly in the telecommunications, mobility, and defense sectors, as well as with industrial engineering firms, technical centers, and research laboratories.
The three partners have also entered into a partnership focused on performance validation, optimization, and future enhancements to the platform under production conditions.
