One of the safety procedures is to immediately investigate the circumstances in the event of a workplace accident.

In 2019, the Holmen Group's paper manufacturer Iggesund Paperboard had no lost-time accidents at the Iggesund Paperboard mill in Workington, UK.
More than 320 people work in this paper mill, which is 100% bioenergy powered.

"We have been building a safety culture for years, and we strive to maintain this approach at all times", welcomes David Inglesfield, the Health and Safety Manager at Iggesund Paperboard Workington. "In order to keep the concept of safety in everyone's mind at all times, this issue must always be high on the agenda of the meetings."

At Iggesund Paperboard's second manufacturing site in Iggesund, Sweden, nine accidents resulted in lost time in 2019. The Swedish paper mill that gave its name to the group has approximately 800 employees.

"As part of accident prevention at all our sites, we make sure that we are constantly learning from each other, says Therese Rahm, Head of Communications at Iggesund Paperboard in Sweden. The Workington plant is a real model for us in terms of being proactive and successful in health and safety." It details: "One of the procedures in place, for example, is to immediately investigate the circumstances in the event of a workplace accident."

The health and safety manager of the English site underlines on this subject : "One must be aware of the need for constant improvement in procedures and know that safety can never be taken for granted."
