This high capacity winder is expected to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2023.

The Norwegian Norske Skog Group's Golbey plant in the Vosges is undergoing a major transformation. The site, which currently produces exclusively newsprint, will soon also manufacture paper for corrugated board (PPO). This conversion to 250 million euros of investment is taking the next step: the paper manufacturer has signed a purchase order with Valmet for a winder.

Norske Skog has opted for the Finnish manufacturer's high-capacity OptiWin Pro winder, which will handle the capacity of 550,000 tons of PPO.
The winder will process 8,870 mm wide parent rolls at a production speed of 3,000 m/min and a capacity of 1,820 tons per day. The PPO machine will produce recycled fluting and testliner with a basis weight of 70 to 135 g/m 2 .

Recycled paperboard production is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023, with full production (550,000 tons) reached in the second half of 2026.

The value of the order will not be disclosed. The value of an order of this type is typically in the range of 10 to 20 million euros, Valmet says.
