Employees blame management for the measures taken since the health crisis.

Workers at the MCC printing works in Libourne were on strike on Thursday 17 September, the newspaper Sud-Ouest reported. The printers accuse the management of having made abusive use of short-time working since the start of the health crisis, the daily said. They are also worried about possible job cuts that could occur between now and next year.

Filpac-CGT said the event came two years to the day after the last major mobilization of the MCC printing plant. " ?En phase with the demands of the national mobilisation proposed by the CGT, we will also mobilise, but in front of the company, because messages must be clearly readable by our Leaders. Almost all the production has already expressed its participation in this action?" the union announced in a press release.

The printing plant was acquired in 2016

Specialized in the printing of wine labels, MCC Libourne is none other than the former GIP (Gironde Imprimerie Publicité) printing company bought in 2016. It is now part of the American group MCC (Multi-Color Corporation) which is positioned as the international leader in labelling solutions for the wine and spirits market. The group has 5 production sites in France and 77 label manufacturing plants around the world.

The group was acquired in 2019 by an investment fund, Platinium Equity, for $2.5 billion. Multi-Color Corporation merged with a subsidiary of WS Packaging, another leader in label solutions within Platinum Equity's portfolio of companies.
