An extravagant Porsche covering with a Phoenix head on the bonnet wins a Golden Fespa Award.

Among the winners of the coveted Fespa Awards, the Dutch company Vermeulen & Vermeulen was able to convince the jury with a particularly neat and extravagant covering. The company received the Golden Fespa Award in its category (first prize). According to Fespa president Christian Duyckaerts, the jury's report praised the "?design exubérant?" of the Porsche 911.

Vermeulen & Vermeulen specialises in advertising lettering, car wrapping, signage and advertising. Company director Marcel Vermeulen explains that the design of this covering was inspired by the roller coaster at the Toverland amusement park in the Netherlands. The customer for whom this covering was made was himself a participant in the Streetgasm Rally (a European super-car race).

Dressing and pyrotechnics

Vermeulen & Vermeulen applied different types of film, cutting techniques and prints on this Porsche.

" ?Les front fender springs are cut from a retro-reflective sheeting that we printed in bright colours. The front is decorated with a 3D phoenix head. During the design process we thought it would be nice if this showcar was spitting fire. What actually started out as a joke, could soon count on our client's enthusiasm. So we hired a pyrotechnician and set up two pyrotechnical cannons.?»

The company produced the cover with a Roland large-format printer and a Zünd S3 cutting table. The nibs were drawn by hand, cut and applied individually to the bodywork to obtain the finished covering.
