UPM Solid, a new family of kraft packaging papers

All three ranges of paper are recyclable, printable and comply with food contact standards.

UPM Specialty Papers launches UPM Solid, a family of printable and robust kraft packaging papers. All references in the three new ranges are recyclable in a plain paper recycling stream, food contact and suitable for converting.

"UPM is committed to promoting new climate-friendly innovations. UPM Solid Kraft Papers are produced from 100% renewable and strong fibres from sustainably managed forests" says Dirk Ryckaert, Sales Director of UPM Specialty Papers Division of UPM Paper Group.

The UPM Solid Lucent range in 42 and 65 gsm is a white translucent paper with a smooth surface that can replace plastic solutions in high production packaging lines. It is printable in flexo and UV flexo. The manufacturer recommends it for dry food pouches and as a base for coating and lamination.

From 70 to 90 g/m², UPM Solid Smooth is designed for packaging with a high need for visuals. This range of kraft papers, recommended for sugar, flour and racing bags and for coating and lamination, can be flexo, UV flexo and offset printed.

And available from 60 to 90 g/m², UPM Solid Strong is a paper free of optical brighteners, which helps to communicate a more natural brand image. It is suitable for sugar sachets, flour sachets, shopping bags and for coating and lamination and can be printed in flexo, UV flexo and offset.

UPM Solid products are suitable for food contact. The products have received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR).
