This new chiller has a higher cooling capacity and consumes less energy.

Paper manufacturer Zanders has installed a new cooling unit at its plant in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. While the machines in the plant are certainly the paper machines and coating machines, the cooling units in the coating preparation department are just as impressive. Zanders has a total of eight of them at its production site.

"The coating, which gives the different types of paper their special properties, consists of a mixture of pigments, binders and additives (...). The composition of Zanders' Chromolux high gloss paper is different from that of Zanlabel or Zanpack?; for Zanjet and Silver Digital it is specially designed to meet the requirements of digital printing", explains the German papermaker. During the preparation of the coating, the mixture must be cooled down, otherwise it will become a semi-compact mass, making it unusable. Cooling units solve this problem.

From the American brand Carrier, the new refrigeration unit installed operates with an energy-efficient refrigerant that provides a higher cooling capacity (509 kW) while consuming less electricity.

With this higher cooling capacity, coating is carried out faster and Zanders gains in production capacity.
