Unions say no to the closure of the Paris Normandy printing plant

The Rossel group has announced its decision to close the newspaper's printing plant.

The CGT elected representatives of Paris Normandie published a press release on March 24 in which they denounce the decision of the Rossel group to close the printing plant of the daily newspaper Paris Normandie.

"The ink is barely dry on the commercial court's judgment nine months ago, and even though we have just participated in the last meeting of the follow-up committee for the 2020 PSE, the management has announced its decision to close our printing plant they explain.

At a general meeting on March 25, the Filpac-Cgt regional press unions decided to give their "unconditional support" to the employees of the Paris-Normandie printing plant following the announcement of the closure of the Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray site.

"Is this the purpose of this plan: to close printing plants, without any negotiation, with or without social conditions? "The unions are asking.

In June 2020, the daily newspaper Paris Normandie was after many twists and turns bought by the Belgian group Rossel. The commercial court of Rouen had judged that the Rossel group had the necessary capacities to turn around the newspaper in difficulty.

Founded in Rouen in 1944, the regional daily Paris-Normandie which is published by the Snic (Société normande d'information et de communication) had been placed in judicial liquidation on April 21 during the first confinement. The newspaper in difficulty for several years had suffered a fatal blow with the crisis of the coronavirus. The sales had collapsed as well as the advertising receipts.

The first French-speaking Belgian press and media group, Rossel was born with the launch of the newspaper "Le Soir" in 1887. Today it represents more than 90 brands in the daily and weekly press ( Le Courrier Picard, l'Union, l'Est Éclair, Nord Éclair, Nord Littoral, Libération Champagne, l'Aisne Nouvelle ), magazines, printing (Presse Flamande printing house), audiovisual, etc.
