A "technological breakthrough" with Sun Chemical's new UV coating

Sun Chemical offers a UV coating that is partly bio-based and derived from recycling.

Sun Chemical, a manufacturer of inks, coatings and printing consumables, has launched SunCure 44HC150, a UV gloss offset coating that is compatible with foil stamping. This varnish has the particularity of having a 25% vegetable carbon content and being composed of 12% of materials resulting from the recycling process.

"This launch represents a technological milestone for Sun Chemical's UV/EB curing line, as it is the first such coating among many products to be deployed featuring such significant levels of bio-based and recycled materials." assures the producer.

SunCure 44HC150 has been tested by SunChemical customers and the feedback has been "excellent" .

"Right now, one of our main goals is to strengthen the credentials of our UV/EB-cured product line in this area." says Mark Walkling, product manager at Sun Chemical. "A series of similar products will follow, benefiting in particular from compostability and/or de-inking certifications, or contributing to the recycling process, both for papers and printed films."
