Street art: a giant hand extended to travelers

A nice help for a nice publicity shot for Expedia!

Until Monday, May 24, passers-by can discover in Paris the street art work created by the artist Combo Culture Kidnapper. Created on the wall 2 rue des Quatre-Fils in the 3rd arrondissement, this fresco commissioned by the online travel agency Expedia is "a hand outstretched" to find the path of travel.

"As the government has just revealed its deconfliction schedule, Expedia.co.uk wants to be the hand that eases travelers' anxiety and reassures them as the world slowly begins to travel again." explains the agency.

Based in Paris, the artist Combo works mainly on the detour of symbols by integrating elements of other graphic universes such as comics or video games, in order to convey peaceful values.

For him, the helping hand of Expedia, "it's the idea of having nothing to do, to let yourself be carried along, to trust the agency to go to the other side of the world" . "Like a hero of a tale, [the passerby] grasps the gargantuan hand of a gentle genie who will transport him to incredible adventures..."

And Combo designed this mural so that passers-by could be "the main character in the scene" by playing with the angles of view and be caught by this maingargantuan.

"People can interact with the work by letting their imagination run wild (postures, angles of taking the picture...). (...) I wanted colorful, lively colors that emphasize the message: the joy of reaching out to others!"

This is also a nice marketing move for Expedia!
