Know-how / A packaging subject to the multiple constraints of e-commerce

For Scents of Wood, Cosfibel made a cardboard drawer box.

After the launch of its e-commerce collection, Cosfibel sees the demand from brands becoming more precise. For Scents of Wood, whose fragrance has just been honored by the Fragrance Foundation, Cosfibel has created a cardboard box with drawers that simulates wood, and a shipper for postal delivery.

A packaging subject to the multiple constraints of e-commerce

New York-based brand Scents of Wood has launched a product line consisting of fragrances, candles, and a booklet. Produced in limited edition, it is available by subscription and distributed exclusively by mail order.

Cosfibel explains that the first challenge was to create a light, sober and practical box evoking the sensoriality of wood. Cosfibel's design studio worked on a paper and cardboard box with a drawer capable of reproducing the look and relief of a tree bark through a combination of printing and varnishing. Inside, an EVA wedge is used to hold the products. However, this wedge is not glued and can be easily removed to recycle the packaging, explains the manufacturer. Also printed in black, the associated shipper is made of corrugated cardboard to remain light and strong.

Increased demand from brands

"Since the recent launch of its e-commerce collection, the Cosfibel group is responding to an increased demand from brands. This custom development confirms the group's entry into this segment, justified by its multi-material competence and creativity in terms of marketing design", explains the company.

Present on four continents with 20 locations and 200 employees, Cosfibel had 2018 revenues of $90 million. The group designs multi-material boxes and cases (metal, cardboard, wood, plastic ) for clients in the luxury goods industry.
