New start for Fibre Excellence Provence pulp mill

Following the takeover of the Tarascon plant on August 1, 2021.

Fibre Excellence officializes the launch of Fibre Excellence Provence, following the takeover of the Tarascon plant on 1 January er august 2021. At the end of July, the Toulouse Commercial Court validated the offer to take over the plant made by the shareholder of Fibre Excellence, which guaranteed investments of 180 million euros.

A new start

Jean-François Guillot, President of Fibre Excellence, explains that this name (Fibre Excellence Provence) represents a new beginning for the site.

"It affirms our attachment to our roots in the region in the broadest sense: Fibre Excellence Provence holds an important place in the economy, employment and the industry, and this name reflects our desire to play a full role in this broader ecosystem, with an ambitious development plan to achieve the best industrial and environmental standards while returning to positive results.»

Start of the Biowatt project to produce green electricity

The company also announced the start of the Biowatt project, with the order for the new turbine to produce more green electricity. This project should enable the site to supply the region with electricity from biomass while recovering the by-products of pulp production, in a circular economy logic.

This project represents an investment of 50 million euros, which is part of Fibre Excellence Provence's overall investment plan for the next four years, amounting to 180 million euros.

"We anticipate an implementation before the end of next year", says Roger Girard, Director of Fibre Excellence Provence.
