The gravure press manufacturer Cerutti, which was in liquidation, joins the Italian subsidiary of Bobst.

Bobst announces that it has finalized the takeover bid for its Italian counterpart Cerutti. The troubled 100-year-old manufacturer of rotogravure presses for packaging, security, commercial printing and publishing is joining the Swiss manufacturer through its subsidiary Bobst Italia.

In August 2020, its two activities, Officine Meccaniche Cerutti dedicated to presses for newspapers and publishing, and Cerutti Packaging Equipment dedicated to packaging, had merged and a redundancy plan had been put in place. But last April, the group founded in 1920 was still in financial difficulties and the company was in liquidation.

With this takeover by Bobst, thirty of the former Cerutti employees - out of a total of 118 - will join the Bobst Italia staff at the San Giorgio Monferrato site.

Bobst Italia, based in San Giorgio Monferrato, Italy, is Bobst's global center of excellence for gravure printing, coating and laminating technologies for the flexible packaging industry. The acquisition of Cerutti enables Bobst to reinforce its position in the international gravure market.

"We are very pleased that the process is finally over, ending a period of uncertainty for Cerutti's local and global stakeholders." commented Davide Garavaglia, General Manager and Head of Gravure, Metallization, Coating and Laminating Product Lines at Bobst Italia.
