Paper, packaging and visual communication media distributor Antalis is expanding its presence in the European packaging market. The Paris-based company, which employs 3,800 people worldwide, has just signed a binding offer to acquire the German BB Pack Group.
Founded in 1999, BB Pack Group, consisting of BB Pack, cr8 Packaging and Printmate, is a custom packaging distributor specializing in the e-commerce and industrial sectors. It operates 18euros000 m 2 of storage space and employs about 30 people. In 2021, the distributor achieved a turnover of 42 million euros.
"The acquisition of BB Pack will boost the overall share of packaging in Antalis' consolidated gross margin and strengthen Antalis' position in the fast-growing packaging distribution sector." says Hervé Poncin, CEO of Antalis.
Since joining the Japanese group Kokusai Pulp & Paper in 2020 (545 billion yen in sales, or ?4.2 billion in 2021), Antalis no longer communicates on the share of its sales by its three business sectors (paper, packaging and visual communication). The latest figures available date back to 2019: its ?2.1 billion in sales was 24% made up of its packaging business.
For Michael Bube, Managing Director of BB Pack, joining the group will allow the company to expand its customer portfolio and to develop on the international market.
