The Belgian manufacturer of finishing equipment Summa acquires its Italian colleague Valiani. With complementary activities, Summa intends to consolidate its position on the packaging market and complete its offer of print finishing equipment.
Valiani, based in Certaldo, Italy, is a family-owned company specializing in small and medium-sized digital flatbed machines for various sectors. Recently, it launched the Omnia self-feeding diecutter for the corrugated and solid board market and the Integra, a machine for the signage and display market.
Summa, based in Gistel, Belgium, supplies cutting plotters, cutting tables and laser cutting systems for the signage, display, textile and packaging markets.
"In this merger, I see a win-win, because it combines the strengths of both companies, says Geert Pierloot, General Manager of Summa, in a joint statement. We can help accelerate Valiani's growth, but our portfolio can be expanded with Valiani's solutions, allowing us to serve more markets."
"Our product lines are extremely complementary." says Christof Van Driessche, commercial director of Summa. "While the popular and attractively priced Summa F1612 flatbed table has a small and unique footprint, many customers are looking for even smaller, more affordable, yet reliable solutions." This merger "fulfills Summa's ambition to increase its presence in other markets and strengthen [its] position in the packaging market."
"In recent years, we have renewed our entire portfolio with a broader range of solutions. This is starting to pay off with significant growth, says Nico Valiani, CEO and son of Valiani's founder. However, I know there is still a lot of potential. My family and I are confident that being part of the Summa Group will accelerate our growth and give our customers many more opportunities."
Both companies will continue to operate under their current names, with the management teams already in place.
