Puzzle pieces now wrapped in paper

A manufacturer of board games has chosen to replace plastic bags containing puzzle pieces with Koehler Paper bags.

The board game market is also looking for sustainable packaging solutions. For almost a year now, Ludo Fact, a leading German manufacturer of board games and puzzles, has been using paper instead of the traditional plastic bag to package its puzzle pieces. The 40 g/m² flexible paper packaging 2 the Koehler NexPlus Seal Pure from paper manufacturer Koehler Paper is now the place to bring together the small parts so dear to the hearts of cephaloclastophiles of all ages.

Koehler NexPlus Seal Pure is tear-resistant, heat-sealable, recyclable and can be used on existing packaging machines by adjusting just a few parameters, such as sealing temperature.

Around 120,000 puzzles leave Ludo Fact's production sites every week. "The stability of Koehler Paper's wrapping paper enables us to wrap products at the same speed as plastic film, for example." says Marcel Riehle, Director of Operations at Ludo Fact, in a press release to explain Ludo Fact's decision to go paperless.

According to Jürgen Leber, Director of Sales and Technical Customer Service for flexible packaging papers at Koehler Paper, the Koehler NexPlus Seal Pure "is technically very well suited to the recycling of materials and the production of recycled paper" and "significantly reduces the carbon footprint of conventional plastic packaging".

Ludo Fact is no stranger to replacing plastic with paper. In 2022, the cellophane on the card decks of the Catan and Halli Galli board games was replaced by Koehler Paper flexible wrapping paper.
