This new lacquered aluminum blister pack can replace current plastic solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, and has the distinctive feature of being infinitely recyclable.

Aluflexpack has developed a blister pack, the 4?Form, which is advertised as "revolutionary" by the Swiss manufacturer of flexible packaging. Currently intended for the pharmaceutical industry, the 4?Form is made entirely of lacquered aluminum, making it a single-material product.

It can replace existing cold-forming and thermoforming packaging solutions for capsules, tablets and other medicines, which until now have mainly ended up in household waste, due to the lack of a suitable recycling channel because of the presence of plastic and aluminum in their manufacture.

As its name suggests, lacquered aluminum can be recycled indefinitely, without losing any of its properties. Resistant to high and low temperatures, offering complete protection against humidity, light, bacteria and micro-organisms, lacquered aluminum ensures, according to Aluflexpack, an extremely long shelf-life for packaged products.

"As a flexible packaging company developing aluminum-based products for over 40 years, we strongly support everything aluminum has to offer, from its protective barrier properties to its circularity characteristics." says Johannes Steurer, President and CEO of Aluflexpack.

The 4?Form complies with the European Proposal Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which came into force at the beginning of this year.

"With new regulations shaping the market, we were encouraged to experiment with something no one had done before: transforming lacquered aluminum into a new, fully recyclable product for the pharmaceutical industry." explains Johannes Steurer, announcing that he is proud of this product, which he believes meets the challenges of tomorrow.

The 4?Form will be marketed in France by Aluflexpack's French subsidiary, Eliopack, based at La Ferté-Bernard in the Sarthe region.
