The American Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute has awarded hubergroup Cradle to Cradle (C2C) certification for the fourth year running. This distinction underlines the Group's efforts in the field of sustainability across all its processes. C2C certification is based on several fundamental criteria: material health, product circularity, renewable energy, water management and social responsibility. The aim is to promote a holistic approach to the life cycle of products, reducing their impact on the environment and encouraging their reintegration into biological or technical cycles after use.
Hubergroup has distinguished itself by its use of materials that are safe for both people and the environment, and by its ability to ensure that its products can be recycled after their use cycle. This approach is part of the Group's sustainable development strategy, with initiatives in renewable energies and water management, notably at its factories in Italy and India.
"We are assuming our responsibility to our customers and future generations by going beyond minimum requirements to set new standards in our industry" Richard Gill, Head of Sheet Products at hubergroup
C2C certification also highlights hubergroup's contribution to the circular economy, a crucial aspect in the manufacture of its inks. Producing its own raw materials, hubergroup controls its entire production chain, guaranteeing optimal control of environmental impact at every stage.
Hubergroup, particularly at its production sites in India, has implemented innovative practices to reduce its water and energy footprint. Over 70% of the water used in pigment production in India is recycled, and all the energy used to manufacture C2C-certified products comes from renewable sources. This proactive approach demonstrates hubergroup's commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of its activities, while maintaining high quality standards.
Continuous improvement towards ambitious future goals
The first company in the inks sector to achieve C2C certification for the majority of its portfolio in 2017, hubergroup continues to innovate to make its products ever more sustainable. The company works with international organizations such as CEFLEX, INGEDE and EPEA to constantly improve its practices. It is also committed to the Responsible Care program, a global initiative to promote responsible practices in the chemical industry.
