Faced with environmental regulations, the graphic arts sector needs to rethink its practices. The Riccobono Group is committed to this approach with the launch of its Enduction Center. This production center explores the potential of heat-sealable paper, integrating eco-design into packaging for various industrial sectors.
The new ERS (Enduction Riccobono System) process is at the heart of the Riccobono Group's strategy. This process, which uses hotmelt technology, enables a heat-reactivatable adhesive to be applied to paper without the addition of water, thus eliminating the need for drying ovens.
This method offers a less energy-intensive alternative to traditional processes, such as extrusion or aqueous varnish coating, which often increase the weight and cost of packaging. Thanks to ERS, the Riccobono Group can produce low-weight heat-sealable papers that meet CITEO's requirements for lighter, more environmentally-friendly packaging.
Under the SEP (Seal Eco Paper) brand, the Enduction Division offers six types of heat-sealing paper, each adapted to specific applications. The range includes :
- SEP Standard classic kraft paper, suitable for everyday packaging
- SEP Light lightweight kraft paper for lower postage costs, with a minimum grammage of 18 g/m²
- SEP Translucent transparent heat-sealable paper for packaging where visibility of contents is essential
- SEP Silk heat-sealing tissue paper, offering a fine texture for high-end applications
- SEP Silent designed to minimize creasing noise, this paper is ideal for packaging sensitive items such as hygiene products
- SEP Breath a porous paper that lets moisture through, meeting the specific needs of laundries and dry cleaners
Each paper in the SEP range reflects a balance between efficiency and environmental responsibility, while complying with recyclability standards. By optimizing low-weight coatings, the Group reduces the cost and ecological impact of packaging.
The development of Riccobono's Coating Division is part of a broader ecological transition, in line with the standards imposed by France's AGEC law, which aims to reduce the use of single-use plastics. By offering heat-sealable paper solutions, the Group is responding to the legal requirements affecting the press and distribution sectors, which are limited by plastic packaging for mailings.
The expansion of skills with the Enduction Division is accompanied by the opening of a new production center, Novatec Industry, in Mary-sur-Marne (Seine-et-Marne). Headed by Éric Carle, this center is a veritable production laboratory for the manufacture of printable, eco-designed heat-sealing papers, adapted to different industrial sectors.
The group is thus banking on the synergy between its historic expertise in printing and its R&D potential, developed by Lab Riccobono, to strengthen its presence in the coating market while sustaining its growth.
Riccobono anticipates significant growth with the Enduction Division. The Group expects to generate 10% of its sales from this division's activities within the next five years. This forecast underlines the Group's determination to consolidate its position in the eco-designed packaging sector, in response to market expectations in terms of sustainable development and social responsibility.
The Riccobono Group, with five generations of experience in the printing industry, is pursuing its goal of diversifying its activities and positioning itself as a key player in the packaging sector's ecological transition.
