Indirect UV printing and REACH inks: Mimaki announces two new products at Berlin

Mimaki will unveil its first DTF UV printer for printing on irregular or rounded surfaces. The UJV300DTF-75 and new inks without substances of very high concern at Fespa 2025.

Japanese manufacturer Mimaki will be previewing the UJV300DTF-75, its first UV film transfer printer, and a new generation of UV inks at Fespa in Berlin, Germany, from May 6 to 9, 2025.

UJV300DTF-75 for printing on irregular surfaces

The UJV300DTF-75 printer is the manufacturer's first UV DTF (direct-to-film) printing solution. With this indirect printing process, patterns are printed on a glue-coated silicone film, then heat-transferred to the final substrate. This method is designed to extend the possibilities of decorative applications on objects that are difficult to print directly, such as irregular or rounded surfaces.

" Mimaki led the way with the launch of its first DTF printer in 2023, which continues to enjoy incredible success in the textile market, says Arjen Evertse, Sales Director at Mimaki Europe . Building on this success, we are extending the basic concept âeuros print first on film, then transfer it to surfaces that are difficult to print directly âeuros âeurosà new markets. With the UJV300DTF-75, we have also leveraged our expertise in UV printing to offer a reliable solution for decorating objects, enabling durable, high-quality prints on surfaces previously unsuitable for direct UV printing."

To guarantee process stability, Mimaki has integrated siliconized pressure rollers to limit film peeling and glue stripping. The printer also incorporates automated functions already integrated into the brand's other UV ranges, such as nozzle checking and white ink circulation

New UV inks designed to comply with European regulations

Mimaki will also be taking advantage of Fespa to present two new UV ink references: ELS-170 (flexible) and ELH-100 (rigid). These inks have been formulated to meet the requirements of European REACH regulations (i.e. without "substances of very high concern" or SVHC), and benefit from Greenguard Gold certification, guaranteeing their low impact on indoor air quality.

The UJV300DTF-75 model, which will be on show for the first time, combines these two inks: ELS-170 for CMYK colors, and ELH-100 for white and varnish, to offer both flexibility and mechanical strength.
