A new page opens for Codimag, which has found a buyer

Codimag comes under the control of Smag-X. The takeover retains most of the workforce and combines two complementary offers in label and packaging printing machinery.

After several months under court protection, Codimag changes hands. On March 31, 2026, the Evry Commercial Court approved the takeover of the press manufacturer by Smag-X, already repositioned in label printing machines and located just ten kilometers from Codimag in Essonne.

Although both manufacturers specialize in printing and finishing equipment for labels and packaging, their alliance is based on complementary product ranges and markets. Smag-X operates mainly in technical and premium segments, while Codimag specializes in offset printing, particularly for the wine industry.

Alexandre Burgot-Dervin, head of Smag-X since September 2025, explains: "This takeover goes beyond the framework of a growth operation. It's part of an industrial responsibility: that of preserving a French industry, maintaining rare skills and continuing to produce here."

Around 95% of Codimag's workforce, i.e. 11 people, will be maintained. Smag-X aims to "retain experienced teams and avoid the loss of technical skills".

This operation follows the opening of receivership proceedings in January. Bondoufle-based Codimag, managed by Benoît Demol, was looking for a solution to secure its cash flow and maintain its business after 10 years of difficulties "sometimes unexpected external events" such as Covid and supply disruptions, and through "organizational, market, competitive and technological challenges to which we had to respond" . Codimag, like Smag-X, generates sales of around ?5 million.

Benoit Demol, former president of Codimag and son of the co-founder, comments on the takeover: "Bringing together the teams and technologies of Codimag and Smag-X is in line with the continuity of French industrial know-how recognized internationally. I'm delighted to see Codimag's business continue for our customers, suppliers and agents."

Smag-X and Codimag are now part of the X&llence Group, which also includes the Olivet-based label manufacturer DB Groupe. Headed by Alexandre Burgot-Dervin, X&llence has 100 employees and consolidated sales of 25 million euros.
