Activity has resumed at full speed at the Floch printing works

The printer explains that he has made up for the loss of income suffered during the containment in a few weeks.

The news is good from the Floch book printing house in Mayenne. After the difficult period of containment, the printing plant is back in full swing and all three presses are running at full speed.

On France Bleu Mayenne for the broadcast The new eco Bernie Louveau, production manager at the Floch book printing plant in Mayenne, explains that the deconfinement has enabled the printer to restart at a fairly steady pace in June and August, which are generally quieter months. As a result, the printer would have made up for the loss of earnings from the containment in a few weeks in June. For the president of the printing works Hubert Pédurand, quoted by France Bleu, "? the confinement frustrated readers who ran to the bookstore, in need of livres?."

It is indeed a recurring testimony among French booksellers in recent weeks, sales in bookstores exploded at the end of the confinement. The Coiffard bookshop in Nantes saw its sales increase by 50% in June compared to 2019, the director of the bookshop told the newspaper West France .

Book printers can now count on the fall literary awards to keep this good business going. As every year, the announcement of the winners between the end of October and the end of November means exponential print runs for printers.

And in spite of the upheavals linked to the health crisis, the literary back-to-school season will take place as it does every year. The number of new novels expected between mid-August and the end of October for the new literary season will be close to that of last year. A total of 511 new novels will be published, compared with 524 last year (figures Weekly Books/Electre Data Services ).
