A new transparent and heat-sealing routing film as an alternative to plastic films for wrapping printed items such as newspapers and magazines.

The Anti-Waste and Circular Economy Act (AGEC) provides for the abolition in 2022 of plastic films (blister) that wrap press and printed matter such as newspapers, magazines or advertisements. To offer an alternative to such packaging, Citeo, in partnership with the Centre Technique du Papier (CTP), launched the "?e-Bliss?" project in 2017.

This project resulted in the creation of a new transparent and heat-sealing routing film made of cellulose fibre and therefore perfectly recyclable in the paper industry. "?La cellulose fibre is currently undergoing a technological revolution that makes it a credible solution to the difficulty of recycling certain packaging such as blister packs in plastique?" explains Citeo.

Market launch in 2021

The company reports that it successfully completed initial industrial tests this summer for a planned market launch in 202. Citeo will financially support the deployment of this new packaging solution on an industrial scale.

These projects are part of Citeo's R&D program for the eco-design of paper and packaging. Many of the projects in this program are carried out in partnership with companies, consortiums and Technical Centers to come up with solutions that can be industrialized in 1 to 3 years. For its part, the Paper Technical Centre's mission is to transform scientific projects into industrial and economic reality.

Citeo was created following the merger-absorption of the two waste sorting and management organizations Eco-Emballages and Ecofolio.
