The book processing company will invest in the modernisation of its production facilities.

A grant from the Île-de-France Region of 800?000 euros was awarded to the Babouot workshops to finance 50% of their new investment plan of 1.6 million euros. The company, based in Seine-et-Marne (77) and specialising in high-end industrial bookbinding and the finishing of fine paper, leather and gilding, obtained this grant as part of the "?PM'up Relance industrie?" call for projects.

Offered to very small businesses, SMEs and industrial SMEs during the summer of 2020, this call for projects will support 75 Paris Region companies in relocating, setting up or converting sites, with the aim of strengthening the industrial fabric in Paris Region and creating or maintaining jobs in the region.

The book finishing company, bookbinder of the La Pléiade and Who's Who collections, will be able, thanks to this grant, to modernize its production tool and open up to new markets. The Ateliers Babouot want to be able to meet the specific needs of other players in the book sector such as large paginations, small series or technical products, explained to the newspaper La Marne the director of Ateliers Babouot, Michel Jeandel.

The company also intends to process internally operations that have been outsourced to external companies in order to gain autonomy and protect its know-how. "?Nous wish to internalize as much of our operations as possible to maintain control of the entire production? chain." said the director to the weekly newspaper.

Created by Gallimard in 1923, the Ateliers Babouot are the only bookbinder for the works of La Pléiade since the beginning of the collection in 1931.
