Imprimerie Igo gives a second life to paper

The Vendée-based company manufactures notepads with the scraps generated by the printing business. This is a voluntarily eco-responsible approach by the printer, for whom it is with little things that big things are made.

For a few months now, Imprimerie Graphique de l'Ouest (Igo), in Le Poiré-sur-Vie in the Vendée, has stopped throwing away its scraps of paper. The company has found an ecological way to give new life to paper by making notepads with the scraps generated by the printing activity.

"?Nous have a lot of scraps, instead of throwing them away, we do carnets?." This is a simple summary by David Goineau, co-manager of the Igo printing plant with Pierrick Souzeau.

A voluntarily eco-responsible approach. "?Le recycling is a matter of course and a necessity for ecology. This notebook was designed with this in mind. It's with little things that we make big things.?»

A non-standardised offer

The price of good deed, the printer explains, is that the characteristics of the notebooks vary according to the amount of paper waste. The printer offers two formulas, A5 or A6.

The notepads contain about 100 pages, 50 white detachable sheets, with a custom four-sided cover. The printer offers its customers the option of printing the cover with a logo or motif of their choice. This is a product that is not standardized, but which changes according to the scraps or papers available for the covers.

A book printing company for 40 years

Established in Le Poiré-sur-Vie in the Vendée, the Igo printing works, founded in 1981, is celebrating its fortieth anniversary this year. Created by Annick Souzeau and Philippe Goineau, it was taken over in 2011 by their children, Pierrick Souzeau and David Goineau. The printing plant is equipped with offset and digital printing with a complete finishing line. It currently has 14 employees.

Originally specialising in book publishing, catalogues and music publishing, in recent years the printing industry has been increasingly expanding its range of products with the help of digital presses.

Like all companies in the sector, the company has seen its activity slow down with the health crisis, particularly in the events sector: posters for festivals, theatre flyers, brochures for companies in the events sector.
