Large-format printer MasterPub (95) reinforces its competitiveness on short runs

Two new machines enable the printer to respond more quickly and cost-effectively to small runs of POS displays. CEO Jean-François Guitard explains why.

MasterPub is a large-format printing company based in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône in the Val-d'Oise and specialized in POS. The company of 20 people works mainly for the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, food and luxury goods sectors. It prints mainly on cardboard, but also on Dibond, Forex and Akilux. At the end of December, a new printing machine went into production, an Agfa Jeti Tauro H2500 led quadri plus white 3/4 automatic.

The Jeti Tauro H2500 is a UV flatbed and reel-to-reel LED press with a width of 2.54 m and a printing speed of 275 m 2 /h. 3/4 automatique?? "The feeder is semi-automatic and the unloader is fully automatic. The printed sheets are placed directly onto pallets", explains the head of MasterPub, Jean-François Guitard.

This hybrid equipment was installed next to an Agfa Mira flatbed table, acquired in 2018. "The hybrid is a plus, but we chose this press above all for its print quality and speed: it goes very fast while having a quality similar to offset."

And these two qualities enable it to reduce printing costs. "This digital machine allows me to be competitive on orders of up to 600 or 700 m 2 ...and offset, which I have to outsource and then laminate."

He adds: " Moreover, by producing in-house, I also gain on delivery times, which customers are demanding shorter and shorter. And in terms of CSR, digital is, in my opinion, better than offset because of the near absence of waste."

In order to keep pace with the Tauro's output, the printer has also equipped itself with a highly automated Zünd digital cutting machine.

"Today we are even more able to respond to small series."
