CalderaRIP 18.1, the new RIP version

Software publisher Caldera launches a RIP update with version 18.1 of its RIP for digital printing. This update now integrates a disk overload prevention system directly into the RIP engine, to limit interruptions due to storage saturation.
Reserved for CalderaCare subscribers, CalderaRIP 18.1 also introduces two new functions: import/export of Hotfolder configurations between workstations, and automatic file deletion via API after processing. These new features are designed to simplify workflow management in multi-user environments.
This new version also extends compatibility with over 20 new drivers, including those for recent models from Vutek, HP, Mimaki, swissQprint, Kornit and Epson. All these enhancements are available via CalderaDock.

Verpack signs an eco-responsible version of the Mademoiselle Rochas case

The Verpack group, which has 530 employees and 5 plants in France and one in Tunisia, has redesigned the promotional packaging for Mademoiselle Rochas 50 ml perfume, along with its 4.5 ml mini, in a more environmentally-friendly way.

Manufactured at the Tours site, the box retains its emblematic pink glitter décor, while adopting a screen-printed varnish containing compostable and biodegradable glitter. This version avoids any conflict with recycling channels, without sacrificing premium appeal. A solution that meets the CSR objectives of the Interparfums brand.

Agfa wins EDP Award for Jeti Tauro H3300 XUHS

Belgian manufacturer Agfa received three awards at the EDP Awards 2025 for its Jeti Tauro H3300 XUHS large-format inkjet press. The model won in the print engine, automation and inks categories, underlining its performance in industrial production.

Designed for high-volume printing on rigid and flexible substrates, this hybrid press reaches speeds of 1,280 m 2 /h. It has 12 rows of heads and operates continuously, 24 hours a day. Available in 4-color or 7-color configurations with varnish, it features an extended vacuum system and automated media guidance.

The press is equipped with Max Bots robots for automatic loading and unloading, limiting handling and the risk of errors, and is compatible with the Flex RTR system for alternating between roll and rigid substrates. It uses the Tauro 30 range of inks, optimized for rigid and corrugated materials, with good fold resistance up to 180°.

Lecta expands its Coral Book range with a new reference

Manufacturer Lecta announces the launch of Coral Book Natural 1.5, an uncoated, high hand paper for editorial applications. According to Lecta, this paper features a natural tone, good black and four-color printing capability, and compatibility with offset, flexo, laser, dry toner and HP Indigo processes.
Available in 70, 80 and 90 g/m 2 available in spools and sheets. Coral Book Natural 1.5 completes a range already comprising several references differentiated by shade and hand.

K, Interpack and Drupa expand into Saudi Arabia

German organizer Messe Düsseldorf announces the extension of its flagship trade shows to the Middle East. The K trade fair for plastics and rubber, Interpack for processes and packaging, and the Drupa printing trade fair will integrate the Saudi Plastics & Petrochem and Saudi Print & Pack trade fairs, which take place in Riyadh from May 12 to 15, 2025.

Wolfram N. Diener, President of Messe Düsseldorf, underlined the importance of this decision: "We're in the right place at the right time. Our commitment to one of the world's fastest-growing exhibition markets reinforces our position as one of the world's most successful exhibition organizers. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are increasingly diversifying their economies, creating many links with our extensive exhibition portfolio and offering new prospects for our customers."
Messe Düsseldorf points out that, according to consultancy firm JWC, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are expected to grow at a rate of 6% a year until 2029, which is higher than the EU average (3%) and the world average (5%).

Book: a new essay examines the typographic heritage of the avant-garde

Editions B42 is publishing a new book on typography in its Façons collection: Après la typographie âeuros Industrial printing and the artistic avant-garde by Victor Guégan, art historian and specialist in printed graphic cultures.
This book traces the impact of interwar artists on the modernization of typographic practices, at a time when offset processes and photography were redefining production logics.
Based on seminal texts by Jan Tschichold, Herbert Bayer and El Lissitzky, author Victor Guégan analyzes how "New Typography" established itself as a language adapted to the constraints of mass production, while heralding the changes of the digital age. The 208-page book is illustrated with some thirty documents, including a color booklet.

The Iropa printing works awarded the Print'Ethic level 1 label

Iropa (Imprimerie Rouen Paris) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded Level 1 of the Print'Ethic label, the graphic industry's CSR benchmark.
This first step formalizes the company's commitments in terms of quality of life at work, reduction of its environmental impact and responsible relations with all its stakeholders.

Paper ash from Norske Skog Golbey recycled in cement

Cement manufacturer Hoffmann Green and Norske Skog Golbey, a paper manufacturer based in the Vosges region of France, have announced their partnership to recover ash from the production of recycled paper. These residues, generated during the incineration of waste paper, will now be used in the manufacture of clinker-free cements developed by Hoffmann Green, renowned for their low carbon footprint.

After a technical test phase that began in January 2024, the first industrial delivery of ash has been validated, paving the way for a regular supply. Hoffmann Green produces its cements using a cold process, without firing and 100% clinker-free.

New self-adhesive graphic media from UPM

At Fespa Global Print Expo 2025, held in Berlin from May 6 to 9, paper manufacturer UPM presented several new additions to its range of adhesive materials for graphic applications, under the Intercoat, Grafityp and Metamark brands.

Innovations include Forest Print, a PVC-free, paper-based printable substrate for more durable large-format printing, and DecorEase, a non-woven, repositionable and easy-to-remove wall material.
UPM also unveiled a new generation of PPF (surface protection) and glazing films under the Omega Skinz range, suitable for complex applications, especially on dotted surfaces.

Screen Truepress Label 350UV SAI-S certified by G7 Digital Press

Screen Graphic Solutions announces that its Truepress Label 350UV SAI-S UV inkjet digital press is the first in its class to achieve Idealliance's G7 Digital Press certification. This recognition attests to its ability to maintain color consistency in line with the label industry's most demanding production standards.

Certified to CRPC7 Extended Gamut protocol, the label press has passed rigorous real-world testing, demonstrating high register accuracy, print uniformity and colorimetric stability. This performance is supported by Screen's Equios workflow, which automatically adjusts print parameters to suit the substrates used, reducing waste and ensuring repeatability.
