The Julien Jopub Communication printing works reinvents itself to face the crisis

Reorientation of the activity, new offers... The printer based in the Pas-de-Calais region is banking on agility and responsiveness.

At the Julien-Jopub Communication print shop, the word of the year is agility," says company boss Olivier Julien. The company based in Divion in the Pas-de-Calais is reinventing itself to face the health crisis and its consequences on the sector.

" ?L 'events represents about 40% of our turnover, but since the beginning of the containment we are reorienting ourselves on the administrative and institutional. We carry out everything from A to Z, which allows us to be reactive and to work in urgence?", explains Olivier Julien.

In the region, as everywhere in France, successive prefectoral decrees make it difficult to achieve any form of visibility in events and culture. Festivals and events are cancelled at the last minute, sometimes when all the printing work has already been done.

The printing company recently invested in two Canon digital presses. " ?Avoir several small machines allow us to be more flexible. If there is a problem on one, we can always work on the other and serve the customer in the shortest possible time no matter what happens.?»

Since the beginning of the health crisis, the priority of the company director has been to protect his employees. The printing works has 13 employees and a turnover of 1.4 million euros. All staff have been able to take leave without loss of pay. The printer has also resorted to short-time working to offset the drop in activity.

Le Petit Potin in a bundled edition

The printer has been editing and publishing for 25 years Le Petit Potin a free monthly publication of local and practical information available in some 20 cities. After a two-month hiatus in March and April, the magazine reappeared in mailboxes in May in a new format. The two former editions, Bruay-Béthune and Arras-Lens, are now combined into a single edition. "?Une formula that pleases plus?" says the leader.

The printer also devotes a significant part of its activity from July to October to printing fire department calendars for nearly 500 fire stations. It is currently developing a website to enable fire stations that cannot travel to order remotely.

Finally, in January, Julien Printing launched a new independent company called Allographique, which focuses on logistics, the Internet and large format printing.
