The more than two-decade collaboration between Cimpress and HP Indigo enters a new phase. The Netherlands-based custom printing giant, owner of several international brands including Vistaprint, confirms the acquisition of 10 to 20 HP Indigo 120K or 18K digital presses.
The contract outlined at Drupa 2024 will involve sites in North America, Europe and Australia. For Cimpress, these latest-generation presses are designed to increase productivity while lowering operating costs.
Launched at Drupa 2024, the HP Indigo 120K is a high-volume sheetfed press developed for commercial printing and large-scale production. HP is highlighting productivity gains thanks to the automation of quality settings and greater use of artificial intelligence, particularly in color management and defect detection.
As for the HP Indigo 18K press, this digital machine stands out for its greater substrate flexibility and extended color gamut. It is intended to broaden the printing group's offering, particularly for more complex graphic work.
Robert Keane, founder and CEO of Cimpress, justifies this decision by the need to remain competitive in the global print-on-demand market. And Haim Levit, Senior Vice President and Division President at HP, says he is delighted to support the group in its transition from analog to digital.
The first installations are expected in early 2025. No details have been given on the exact breakdown between 120K and 18K models, nor on the value of this order.
