Embelium, a 100% plant-based packaging cultivated in the South-West of France

In the series of alternatives to plastic, Embelium is a packaging product made exclusively from plants.

Embelium is a 100% vegetable material without additives, grown in the south-west of France. It enables the development of custom packaging products for brands: bottle or cosmetic product wedging, shells, multi-purpose boxes, etc.

The creator of the company, Rémi Laurant, began the Embelium adventure at the end of 2016 when he decided to leave his job in the industry to create natural and ecological products.

Also a beekeeper, his first applications consist in making insulating materials for hives. Then he discovers that the plant material he develops has many interesting characteristics: shock resistance, thermal insulation, fire resistance... it is then that he sees it as an alternative to plastic. Classified M1, Embelium is a non-flammable product that can be engraved by laser.

No competition with agricultural land

The plants used for the manufacture of this plant material come from local agriculture and are not grown specifically for Embelium," emphasizes Rémi Laurant. "?Nous do not compete with food surfaces. On the contrary, we provide an opportunity to recycle agricultural waste.?»

The moulds are designed at the customer's request according to the type of part they wish to protect or package. According to Rémi Laurant, one of the great interests of this material is that it is natural and compostable, and that there is no ambiguity about its natural character.
