Know-how / Patented debossing technique for this Bowmore case

Cosfibel Premium presents its new hourglass-shaped box made with a patented wood-cutting technique.

A new limited edition box for Bowmore's Timeless whisky collection has been presented by Cosfibel Premium. The international group specialized in the manufacture of luxury packaging explains that it worked on an hourglass-shaped cut, to which is added a debossing technique to give relief to the material without denaturing it.

A patented method

"The major expertise of this development lies in the execution of a debossed pattern on MDF. This required the development of an exclusive method patented by Cosfibel to reproduce the hourglass in relief while controlling the temperature and the degree of pressure without damaging the wood explains the group.

Thirty successive operations were necessary to create the box. In a matte black color, it features a thin metallic sticker applied by hand on the lid. Inside, the bottle and accessories are held in an EVA wedge covered with a layer of microfiber in the same shade. The prints are made in hot gilding.

In the box, the bottle is next to a three-minute hourglass, the time needed to appreciate the nose of the single malt. A booklet is also included, which tells the history of whisky.

"This edition is worthy of these two Scotch whiskies, respectively 27 and 31 years old. To showcase them, the distillery entrusted Cosfibel Premium with the creation of an exceptional box designed by the agency Pocket Rocket Creative", says Cosfibel.

Present on four continents with 20 locations and 200 employees, Cosfibel had 2018 revenues of $90 million. The group designs multi-material boxes and cases (metal, cardboard, wood, plastic ) for clients in the luxury goods industry.
