Label: VKP launches the first liners made of recycled paper

The first commercial application of the recycled paper liner is launched.

Adhesive label manufacturer VPF is launching the first line of release liners made from recycled paper. To create this reference named NSA700-476, the German group worked from Mondi's EverLiner MR liner for labels and industrial applications.

Launched last February, mondi's EverLiner is the first liner with 70% recycled content on the market. In addition to using less virgin fiber, it is available with FSC or PEFC certified paper and reduces the CO2 footprint compared to standard liners. The VKP line is the first commercial application of one of the references of this liner made with recycled paper.

VPK specifies that its 70 g/m² glossy paper lining 2 fSC certified "significantly reduces the use of virgin fiber" and that it saves up to 60% of the energy and 70% of the water used in its production.

"The functionality and performance of Mondi's EverLiner with our line of self-adhesive labels is comparable to that of a conventional liner while helping us meet our sustainability goals, said Holger Steinbach, VPF technical director, in a statement. This is just one step in our eco-journey, and we are committed to creating products that work better for our planet."

Vincenzo Pierro, labels business development manager at Mondi, adds: "As VPF's development partner, we worked closely with the team from the start, providing a sustainable non-stick coating alternative without having to change the silicone system, to create effective products while reducing environmental impact."

VPK also offers to combine these fronts with 100% recycled papers, based on grass and sugarcane stalk residue for various applications.
