Two new liners at Mondi to reduce its environmental impact

Mondi expands its range of non-stick coatings with the launch of two new products.

The linerless labels s, liners recycling systems ( with Avery Dennison or the Celab for Circular Economy for Labels ) ... manufacturers are beginning to offer different solutions to reduce waste from adhesive substrates. Today it's Mondi. The paper group is launching a new range of paper-based liners, supposed to be more ecological.
Intended for label and industrial use, the EverLiner line of non-stick coatings would have a lower carbon footprint than standard solutions. Its use does not require a change of machine.

The EverLiner Labelite liner is a lighter solution than standard glassine for label applications, 47 g/m² 2 versus 58 g/m 2 for example, for the same thickness and the same mechanical and transparency properties. "This translates into 20% less raw material being used to produce the coating." indicates Mondi. "Mondi's use of paper from an integrated production process, which is manufactured and converted in-house, results in a significant reduction of the product's overall carbon footprint."

The EverLiner MR liner, for label and industrial applications, is the first non-stick liner on the market to use recycled base paper. Machine glossy (MG) paper contains 70% recycled content. In a first cooperation with a European label producer, the papermaker reports, without giving further details, that it has significantly reduced its customer's CO2 emissions,

"By using recycled fibres, reducing the amount of material used and examining the entire production and logistics process, we have been able to create new, highly efficient options tailored to the different applications and specific needs of manufacturers", says Andrea Lackner, Mondi's R&D Director Release Liner.
