Jetfire 50: first installations in Switzerland and Germany
The very first digital printing systems Jetfire 50 from Heidelberg have been installed at Gremper AG in Switzerland and Meinders & Elstermann in Germany. These printing plants now combine offset and digital printing in hybrid environments to meet the growing demand for customized print runs. The integration of Prinect software, which automates production workflows, is a key asset. Gremper AG relies on the efficiency of this system to produce high-end prints, while Meinders & Elstermann concentrates on small personalized runs and mailings. This breakthrough illustrates the potential of industrial digital printing in a rapidly expanding market.
Konica Minolta launches a new spectrophotometer
Konica Minolta presents the CM-3700A Plus spectrophotometer, successor to the CM-3700A model. According to the Japanese brand, this new color-measuring instrument is even more accurate on darker shades, and introduces new functions such as camera sighting for simplified sample positioning. Featuring a stainless steel case, this spectrophotometer integrates with SpectraMagic NX2 software.
Sainsbury's tests plastic-free packaging for its avocados
Since January 2025, British supermarket chain Sainsbury's has been experimenting with paper packaging with bamboo netting for its Ripe & Ready avocado double-pack. Tested in 77 stores, this new recyclable packaging could save 20.2 million pieces of plastic a year. Once the tests are conclusive, the roll-out will be extended in-store and online.
This initiative is part of a wider strategy to reduce plastics, already illustrated by the replacement of plastic trays for berries and mushrooms, saving 160 and 775 tonnes of plastic respectively each year. The logistical and economic performance of these new packaging solutions remains to be assessed.
Antalis launches Delos range for luxury packaging
Antalis enhances its high-end packaging offering with the Delos range, unveiled at Paris Packaging Week 2025. Designed to meet the requirements of luxury brands, Delos stands out for its rigidity, its finishes (Wove and Nature) and its availability in three shades of white and in grammages ranging from 120 to 450 g/m² 2 . FSC-certified and incorporating up to 50% recycled fibers, it is compatible with embossing, hot stamping and offset printing.

Love Paper Week: promoting sustainable paper from February 3 to 7, 2025
Love Paper, a global initiative to raise awareness of the sustainability and appeal of paper, announces the launch of Love Paper Week. This first edition will take place from February 3 to 7, 2025, and will mobilize the entire industry, from printers to packaging manufacturers, to inform people about the ecological qualities of paper.
Love Paper points out that paper is 79% recyclable in Europe, a higher rate than any other material. The event aims to deconstruct preconceived ideas and boost consumer and business confidence in this sustainable medium.
Communication tools, including visuals for social networks and virtual backgrounds, will be made available to support professionals in their actions. This first edition is intended as a starting point for an initiative that will become a permanent fixture on the industrial landscape.
XSYS accelerates the transition to sustainable flexo plates
Flexo plate manufacturer XSYS expands its Nyloflex Eco range with two new analog plates, Nyloflex Eco ACT and FAC, designed to gradually replace traditional models. These plates, designed for printing on paper, cardboard and corrugated board, incorporate up to 29% renewable raw materials and reduce processing times by 20%, thus reducing the company's environmental footprint.
A new Ibis binder to discover at Hunkeler Innovation Days
Ibis (Integrated Bindery Systems) will be launching its new label binder at the Hunkeler Innovation Days 2025, to be held in Switzerland from February 24 to 27.
This binder, based on the Ibis Smart binder, has been optimized to produce extended content labels (ECL). At the Swiss event, the Smart Label binder will produce pharmaceutical ECLs using lightweight (45 g/m²) OP medical paper and Ibis ISG gluing technology. It will be fed by a Hunkeler unwinder and reel cutter using Screen-printed reels during the four days of the HID show.
Mondi expands its Nautilus ProCycle range of recycled papers
Mondi, manufacturer of 100% recycled paper, announces the extension of its Nautilus ProCycle range with new grammages ranging from 100 to 300 g/m² for folio formats, and from 100 to 120 g/m² for reels. Certified Cradle to Cradle Bronze, Blue Angel, FSC and EU Ecolabel, this paper, produced in Austria from post-consumer waste, stands out for its high whiteness (ISO 100% and CIE 135%), and is intended for a variety of applications such as letterheads, brochures, reports or advertising media.
Until now, Nautilus ProCycle has been available in A4 and A3 formats in 80 g/m², as well as in 90 g/m² reels. This development was carried out in collaboration with Antalis AG in Switzerland, which is playing a key role in its deployment.
