Label printing group Labelys continues its strategy of international expansion with the integration of Etiquel, a Portuguese company specializing in labels for wines and spirits. This operation strengthens the position of the French group, already present in Italy, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal, on the European market, and opens up new development prospects for Etiquel.
Founded in 1982 in Porto, Etiquel made its mark on the Portuguese market by focusing on the wine industry from the 1990s onwards. This reorientation, motivated by the growth of the sector, has enabled the company to become a recognized leader with sales of 14 million euros.
"Etiquel is one of the most modern factories I have ever visited, and Celestino is undeniably a visionary who is never short of thoughts or ideas about his production tool or markets." says Labelys CEO Grégoire Desmettre. The Portuguese company recently installed two new presses.
For Labelys, which has 20 sites and around 200 million in sales, this acquisition represents a major opportunity to strengthen its presence in a competitive European market. By integrating Etiquel's expertise, Labelys is affirming its determination to become a key player in high value-added labels, also covering the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food sectors.
