The takeover of Fibre Excellence Tarascon validated by the court

On July 13, Fibre Excellence announced that it had submitted a firm takeover offer with investments of 180 million euros for the Tarascon plant.

The Commercial Court of Toulouse validated on Thursday 22 July the takeover offer of the Tarascon plant made by the shareholder of Fibre Excellence.

On July 13, Fibre Excellence announced that it had submitted a firm takeover offer with investments of 180 million euros for the Tarascon plant.

"I welcome this decision, which marks a new beginning for the Tarascon plant and provides prospects for the entire industry on which thousands of jobs depend, said Jean-François Guillot, President of Fibre Excellence.

The investment plan will allow for important work to be carried out, including the Biowatt project, an electricity turbine that will supply the region with electricity by converting the by-products of pulp production.

Also planned are the modernization and renewal of the industrial tool, the reduction of odors through the collection and incineration of odorous gases in the black liquor boiler, the improvement of water quality with the installation of improved filtration of suspended solids in the treatment plant, and the construction of rainwater retention basins. According to the company, these installations are intended to allow the "environmental reduction of the site".

Fibre Excellence also plans to install an oxygen delignification facility within four years. This will allow the pulp to be bleached with oxygen and reduce the use of chemicals. Since the beginning of 2021, the mill has been producing unbleached pulp (UKP) to minimize the use of chemicals.
