Paper bottles interest beauty brands

The Estée Lauder Group of Companies, which includes many cosmetic brands, may switch all of its bottles to this paper bottle.

American beauty products manufacturer The Estée Lauder Compagnies has announced that it has joined the Pulpex consortium. Founded in 2020, Pulpex with its partner companies (including major international groups, such as alcohol producer Diageo, food and beverage groups Unilever and PepsiCo, and pharmaceutical group GSK Consumer Healthcare) is developing a technology to create bottles from paper pulp using raw materials from responsibly managed forests.

The first beauty company to partner on this project plans to modify its bottling technology across its extensive portfolio of brands, which includes Estée Lauder, Aramis, Clinique, Tommy Hilfiger, M-A-C and DKNY, among others.

"Exploring alternative materials and more responsible concepts in our packaging design is a strategic imperative, but we know we can't do it alone. Scaling innovation will be key to delivering sustainable packaging solutions." said Daniel Ramos, senior vice president, Global Packaging.

The Estée Lauder Companies has committed to halving the amount of virgin petroleum-based plastic in its packaging by the end of 2030.
The group has also committed to using 75-100% recyclable, refillable, reusable, recycled or recoverable packaging by 2025.

Last April, Pulpex announced that the first production line for paper bottles would be operational in 2022.
