Hubergroup launches direct food contact offset ink

With the MGA Contact series, brands have more space to print their messages and information.

Printing on the inside of food packaging made of paper and cardboard is possible with Hubergroup's new MGA Contact ink. The German printing ink manufacturer has just launched this new series of food contact sheetfed inks, which in combination with a suitable dispersion coating can be in direct contact with food without the need for any other functional barrier.

"With MGA Contact, brands and packaging designers now have twice as much space for their messages and information. Fruit, vegetable or chocolate packaging can therefore be even more attractive." says Josef Sutter, product manager for Sheetfed/UV Europe at Hubergroup.

To achieve this result, the ink manufacturer used only components that are permitted by the European Union and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration guidelines for direct contact with food. In addition, this series of inks is produced in a separate production facility in its Celle, Germany plant.

The color space and color fastness of the ink series are similar to those of traditional offset inks and no adaptation is required by printers to use MGA Contact inks.
