The imagePRESS V1000 - Canon's next generation digital press

Envelopes, magnets, extra long sheets, postcards, posters, and more - the Canon imagePRESS V1000 prints a wide variety of media types, sizes and weights from 52 to 400 g/m2, from envelopes to 1.3 meter long prints.

At a major event in Munich at the Customer Client Center located in Germany near Munich, Canon unveiled its new digital color sheetfed press, the imagePRESS V1000. The toner machine, which occupies less than 3 m 2 opens the new generation of the imagePRESS range launched in 2006.

"In designing this machine, we focused on productivity, but also on application capabilities." presented Jennifer Kolloczek, Graphic Arts Manager, Canon Europe Production Printing.

The imagePRESS V1000 CMYK prints at a consistent 100 A3 pages per minute at 2400 x 2400 dpi resolution on any media type from 52 to 400 gsm 2 from envelope size to 1.3 meter long prints.

"Printers can produce applications on a variety of media sizes and weights, but also on a variety of media types such as coated, uncoated, textured, synthetic (such as waterproof media), magnetic, clear"

The combination of this high speed and compactness was made possible by several new technologies, as detailed by Jelle Krijnders, Application Specialist and Sara Milani, Production Marketing Specialist at Canon EMEA.

The imagePRESS V1000 features a new ink transfer technology that dynamically adjusts the angle of the transfer roller to the media on each sheet. This ensures even color distribution without the risk of sticking when switching from one weight to another on the fly.

The toner press is also equipped with the new POD-Surf (Surface Rapid Fusing) fixing technology.
The POD-Surf provides a large contact area between the media and the toner fixing system. It also ensures a uniform temperature, regardless of the media, and allows for a consistent print speed of 100 pages per minute.

In addition, the imagePRESS V1000 has a new cooling system installed just after the toner is attached. It ensures high print quality especially for high ink coverage prints, Canon says.

The manufacturer has also designed an automatic double-sided registration system that works even on 1.3-meter long banners.

The printing machine also has an integrated spectrophotometer for calibration, profiling and in-line quality control.

Toner replacement and media loading can be done during printing.

The imagePRESS V1000 can print 1.3 meter banners or brochures. But this press can also customize envelopes. To do this, a simple adapter is placed in the cassette. "Nothing else needs to change" canon's specialists point out.

To further increase the flexibility of the press, various finishing modules can be added such as stapling, punching, cutting or folding modules.

This press will be previewed in France at the Ceuros! Print, which will be held from May 10 to 12 in Lyon.
