Fedrigoni to acquire a French paper site

With this new acquisition, the Italian group Fedrigoni strengthens its position in the global market of high-end papers for the wine and spirits markets.

After the announcement of the acquisition of Arjowiggins' Spanish paper mill last month, Fedrigoni is pursuing its external growth strategy. The Italian paper manufacturer has signed an agreement to acquire the Zuber Rieder paper mill, located in Boussières in the Doubs region. Founded in 1881, Zuber Rieder, which employs 130 people, produces specialty papers, including high-end papers for wine labels.

Marco Nespolo, CEO of the Fedrigoni Group (1.6 billion euros in sales), explains in a statement: "Zuber Rieder's proprietary skills and technologies will allow us to complement our already rich product portfolio, both papers for luxury packaging and those for high-end wine and spirits labels, where we aim to consolidate our position as a leading global player."

Luc Gaillet, current president, and Alain Martz, managing director, who took over Zuber Rieder in the early 2000s, will remain active in the company's governance to help integrate the company into the Fedrigoni Group and develop it further. Alain Martz would also retain an executive role as Managing Director of Zuber Rieder.
Both leaders state: "The Fedrigoni Group is a century-old industrial company like Zuber Rieder, with ambitious international development goals, to which we will be happy to contribute."
