Mondi sets up a new production site in Morocco

The production capacity of paper bags is increased to 500 million units in West Africa.

Mondi, the paper and packaging manufacturer, has just started operations at its paper bag plant in Tangiers, Morocco. This site, the third in the country, joins three other paper bag production sites in West Africa (Casablanca, Agadir in Morocco and Abidjan in Ivory Coast).

The Tangier plant has an annual production of 100 million paper bags. With the start-up of this fourth site, the production capacity in West Africa is now over 500 million bags per year. The plant, which was completed in less than a year, required an investment of 16 million euros, and meets the growing customer demand for industrial paper bags for the cement and building materials industry in the region.

The raw material, kraft paper, used to manufacture these bags is produced by Mondi, which offers a guaranteed supply of packaging materials for the construction industry.

Tangier is located in a free economic trade zone, which allows this brand new plant to easily supply neighboring countries.

"It's really exciting to see the growth of the construction industry in West Africa. Mondi is uniquely positioned to deliver paper-based packaging materials directly to customers in the region, who benefit from a reliable supply of high-quality paper bags and local services." said Hicham Jalal, Mondi's regional director for paper bags in West Africa, in a statement.
