European printing plate manufacturer Miller Graphics has just equipped one of its four French sites with a new flexographic plate mounting system, the Flatmount 3000.
Developed by Dutch manufacturer AV Flexologic, the Flatmount 3000 allows flexographic plates to be mounted flat, giving greater control over precision and efficiency in the preparation of forms for printing on packaging.
Installed in the Beauvais workshop in the Oise region of France, dedicated to the manufacture of flexographic printing forms for carton printers, the new system aims to enhance plate alignment quality by reducing distortion, an important requirement for carton printers, particularly in post-printing on corrugated board.
A first in France with the Inkjet option
Miller Graphics reports that it is the first user in France to exploit the Inkjet option on an assembly table. This inkjet printing technology enables information to be digitally printed directly onto mylar. It should enhance the traceability of printed forms and facilitate data management within the workshop.
The automation offered by the Flatmount 3000 is designed to reduce the need for manual handling during cliché assembly. According to Miller Graphics, this approach helps reduce the risk of error, while improving operator safety. " This machine is part of a continuous improvement approach aimed at optimizing production flows and meeting the growing expectations of the sector" says the group.
Miller Graphics, which originated in Sweden, is present in nine countries. In France, it employs 120 people at four sites and generates sales of 45 million euros. Through its various sites, Miller Graphics offers graphic design, photoengraving and flexographic printing services, as well as the supply of printing consumables.
