The Xsys Thermoflex Edge 80 flexo CTP, featuring a new screening pattern and "the highest speed on the market"

First unveiled at Labelexpo 2025, the Thermoflex Edge 80 is now entering commercial production. Developed and manufactured in Belgium, this laser imager ushers in a new generation of Xsys equipment designed for the production of flexographic plates.

Unveiled at Labelexpo 2025, the Thermoflex Edge 80 from Xsys is now available. Developed and manufactured in Belgium, this laser imager marks the debut of the third generation of equipment from the German manufacturer designed for the production of flexographic plates.

The Thermoflex Edge 80 flexo CTP, for plates up to 1270 x 2032 mm, reaches a speed of 15 m 2 per hour (in 2400 dpi production mode), or, according to the manufacturer, "the highest speed" on the market. This speed should make it possible to increase the production capacity of prepress facilities while maintaining the quality standards required for flexographic printing applications. In terms of resolution, it offers a print resolution of up to 5,080 dpi.

One of the major advancements in this CTP system is the Woodpecker Nano 2400 surface screening technology. This version, which succeeds the Nano 2000 launched in 2019 (at 2000 dpi), operates at a resolution of 2%E2euros%89400 dpi. This change increases the number of gray levels available during plate imaging and offers finer detail reproduction, greater uniformity in solid areas, and more consistent printing, particularly for flexible packaging applications, according to Flint Group?s former flexographic division.
With Nano 2000 screening enabled, the maximum speed of the CTP is 10 m 2 per hour using a 6.5-meter Nano 2400 2 .

The Thermoflex Edge 80 is based on an open architecture designed to facilitate its integration into major prepress workflows. It can also be connected to Catena+, the automation platform developed by Xsys for flexographic plate production.

This new Thermoflex also features remote diagnostics and real-time monitoring via ProServX Cloud.

"The Thermoflex Edge 80 represents a major step forward in the performance capabilities of flexographic prepress," "says Steven Vandevoorde, general manager of prepress at Xsys." "For our customers, this means more plates produced per shift, shorter turnaround times, and high print quality."

The Thermoflex Edge 80 is the first model in the Thermoflex Edge line. Xsys plans to introduce additional sizes starting in 2027.
